Read a lot of books, watch a lot of movies, comics, manga, even playing video games will give you an idea of things to draw or think about. Pulling from real life experience will help you to make characters seem more real (if thats what you’re going for, unless you want to make a generic isekai in which case, make the characters smart in a cool way at least.)
Pick up a book on writing, it’s necessary to study like studying drawing books.
