>buy $125 painting demo from artist I admire
>artist uses genuine naples yellow as a key color in demonstration, provides ref to paint along with video
>can't buy genuine naples yellow because I live in a nanny state and it's a banned pigment due to its toxicity
>DM artist a polite messsage if they have a suggestion for an alternative for genuine naples yellow
>get ignored
Okay. I have two other non-genuine naples yellow with different pigments but those are too chalky when compared to what this artist has on the pallet. I was thinking of mixing a cadmium lemon yellow with something else, maybe my 'naples yellows' to get an approximation, but that will probably not work well in this particular instance because the genuine naples yellow in the demo is mainly used to bump up skin tone mixtures to a lighter value without affecting the saturation too much and cadmiums are extremely strong tinters... Do you guys have any suggestions? I can't buy the PY41 pigment here at all, the paint brands who do produce the genuine color like Michael Harding are available here but just not that specific color.
