anyone know about plasticine? advice on types to use?
i'll only be able to work in short spurts of time, so clay will dry out

(Water-based) clay can be kept moist by putting it in a plastic bag. Spray it with water regularly when you don't use it and you should be good.

Not an expert; tried plasticine, but I didn't like it as much as clay.

Just try different kinds. I'd recommend you grab a block of soft, medium, and hard and then just play with them until you figure out which one works best for you. It's mostly for making ecorches or practicing for a real sculpt though. I wouldn't make anything out of it that I expected to keep forever, you know? At best you can use it to make a mold for a permanent piece or 3d scan it for 3d printing.

For the last time, you fuckers are not sculpting ANYTHING, what you are doing is akin to a nigger throwing mud into some sticks to mold some piece of shit. Take a solid block of something and SCULPT it out to create something, bitch.

If you thinking about plasticine search for one without sulffur. Because you can make silicone mold. Hardness and colour is just prefrence. For quick sketch more soft will be better and for more detail work harder will be good choice

It's better to use wet cloth wraped around clay sculpture and then use palstic bag tightly wraped. In that scenario clay will be ok for 14+ days without need to wet again the cloth.

Pro tip: If you want to make plaster mold to cast sculpture in plaster or concrete clay will be better choice.
