the main problem is that many are uninspired or like this one, based on a property the creator didn't own so you can't really do anything commercial with this bought design.
If i had the funding i'd hire some artists to help with my character designs, for instance i wanna make a monster tamer-esque game so i would just get a bunch of people to contribute designs, which i would allow them to own the rights to the design but just give me the licence to use it for the project
