>>5209689That's not the point.
The point is that Loomis is complete shit for beginners and shilling it as if its some kind of golden pill to solve all your problems is what is annoying about this board.
Tell me, did you read the ENTIRETY of Loomis' books?
No?
Then why the fuck would you recommend it to beginners without explicitly stating first the pages which to ignore?
I know why.
You dont know how to teach beginners.
Your fucking mind can't get its head wrapped around the fact that people can't just copy shit and learn what they need to know without trying to completely absorb the book.
>>5209694Have you been drawing as a child?
If so, your opinions are irrelevant.
You idiots could learn from Mark Crilley's meme manga book so you can't fucking tell me or other adult artists what is or what is not a good resource.
Just because your art is good and you say that Loomis and Vilppu helped you DOES NOT mean that they are the reason your art is the way it is.
I'm 100% certain there are things that people like you forget to mention because they are so ingrained in your self conscious that you dont even realize that beginners need to be informed about specific ideologies or techniques or ways of thinking about drawing because they seem obvious or second nature to you.
So yes. I stand firm in my belief that Vilppu and Loomis are fucking useless.
Look at the fucking beg threads every once in a while.
If your advice about Loomis and Vilppu was so good, why the fuck do people still draw like absolute shit in the beg threads despite using Loomis?
I'm only stating facts. Look at the fucking evidence.
The Art and Science of Drawing by Brent Eviston seems to be, right now, the best for absolute beginners because he first teaches control and how to look at a drawing and the mindset you need without all the rambling that Volen CK does.
All the shit he teaches might seem redundant to you but you dont know what being an absolute beginner at 30 is like or how to teach.
