Turpentine was the nasty one, but I have a small bottle for glazes, and is safe in small quantities. Some old paint mixtures used toxic pigments, but most modern paints are safe - and in most cases some are only harmful if ingested, like cadmiums.
Millions of people oil paint every day, with no health issues from it. And use linseed, it's harmless - it's made from flax, which is perfectly edible and is in products around you daily, like in linoleum.
If you drink energy drinks, you're ingesting more toxins than from oil painting. Walking by running cars and busses is WAY more toxic than a small painting set.
