It’s pretty much the most soulless and creatively bankrupt type of art you could do, since most of these people are literally just copying photos other people shot, usually of characters other people have created, centimeter by centimeter.
People who don’t really know much about how drawings are impressed by this shit, because they don’t show the reference photo it doesn’t occur to them that they’re just reproducing other people’s work.
There are some photorealists who shoot their own photographs first but the money is in impressing normies by copying movie stills of the Joker
