does anyone have any tips for a more detailed rendering of the rib cage? I've already got the proko form down but it's difficult figuring out what pattern the individual ribs follow

Most of the time you dont need to render them, but yea its a pain in the at first to get the pattern going. Id focus on just that. Draw the all the ribcages from the 3d pictures included in the course. You will wanna kill yourself by the end of it, But it helps out more than you think. I did that for the shoulder girdle. I was able to draw the assignments much more accurately as a result.

No, I didint do what I'm telling op to do. I did it with the shoulder girdle. Im basically saying I found out what to do when it was too late. Pic related is what I started doing. It helped a shit load with homework. Im sure the pattern of the ribcage can be learned the same way. Usually, for muscle connections, ive been using approximations.

listen to what proko says. Its all about the pattern. If you know the form well, then you shoul de able to draw the ribs in as if they were stickers. Ofcourse its a 3d form, but starting with the divisions of the ribs as "stickers" is what helped me out the most. After that you have to fill in the actual 3d forms tho. That takes some skill.

If you want to draw ribs that are visible through the skin, it would probably be best to separate the ribs into sections like 1-5, 6-10, then just memorize where 6-10 are in relationship to each other, ignoring everything between 1-5.
I'm just speculating that this will be helpful though, because I've never bothered with drawing separate ribs.

I wasn't actually thinking about how them being visible through the skin, more just how to draw them in general but that is a useful piece of advice
