>>3074081 frankly i like what mullins is attempting; my one problem with most digital is the naive notion that one doesn't need to comment on all the traditional oil painting in the last 2k years; that it didn't matter and has no impact on the digital scene.
Digital and the "new game changer technology" is nothing (new), once upon a time perspective "came out" and of course everyone was like:
1st wave: Creator => The first guy to develop noteworthy technology, not necessarily proficient with it
2nd wave: Exploitation => The masses go to town, and basically turn it in a joke meme
3rd Wave: Master => Someone, (craig mullins in this case) does something technically masterful with said technology, the masses shower him with praise, but fellow artists (the anons in this thread) can notice something is missing.
Final wave: Student=> Someone talented see's something like mullins and outmasters the master at a younger age, this catches the attention of contemporaries, who are now floored and are forced to acknowledge the original master at some level.
Then basically you enter a golden age, a renaissance, where people develop and encourage others. It always comes after a dark age, the climate on /ic/ as of late suggests we are overdue.
