Ah, guess I can't talk shit about their values. They have similar line styles though.

I don't think I've ever seen Hogarth outside of his "anatomy showcase" style so I assumed it's his inherent style, I kind of hate it, and part of anatomy is understanding its subtlety which he has none of.

And the values in his drawings are well grouped, not patchy at all. The comparison makes no sense. I recall Hogarth had some term for the style of rendering he used for his anatomical drawings, "front light" or something like that. It's very similar to what 3d sculpting software like zbrush uses for real time fake lighting (matcaps)
