because making a cartoon is expensive and time consuming which a long time before you start to see results. It's not that the money isn't there but that the people who have an idea don't have the passion, dedication or a fully formed idea for an entire season so no one wants to back a project that gets dropped halfway through production.

Because unless you're subsidized by the government like Glitch the amount of money it takes to make a cartoon means that you pretty much have no choice but to go to a network for funding. The only real independent cartoonists are porn artists who can survive entirely off of patreon.

That wasn't their fault. They had a solid plan, but then youtube changed the algorithm and made it impossible for animation to make any money.
