Is the current Shang-Chi series good? It's being relaunched as an ongoing with a new #1 in July. Should I jump on?

I'm not sure that the new number 1 would be a good jumping on point

Gene Luen Yang has given the Shang's whole backstory a soft reboot.
Added a bunch of new supporting cast members, new villains, extended family members and new locations and organizations

I'd say start with number 1 of the 2021 miniseries and catch up with the current volume just to get all of the backstory

I enjoy the book, but this is coming from someone who isn't too familiar with Shang-Chi from before the current run

Meh. It isn't horrible. But, not to my taste. It in my opinion focuses too much on side characters and doesn't really explore or fill you in on Shang Chi. Kind of like the movie, it glosses over Shang Chi and his motivations in favor of team drama and things like that. For this book and the movie if I didn't have previous knowledge of Shang Chi I feel like I wouldn't know much about the character at all.

dude Yang's Shang-Chi began with a five issue miniseries and the second renumbering is 12 issues with 11 of it out

Definitely, I'm just saying that the upcoming relaunch "Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings" is probably going to be harder to get into without reading the previous 17 issues
