We never heard about that goat before, Usagi's father was mentioned once and wasn't shown as any real influence on MC's behaviour. We also know that katana can be activated for few seconds to cut through anything so that bit with the mining robot was a little redundant.
I guess it was made solely to drop the "A samurai cannot live under the same sky as the murderer of his father/lord" adage? But that doesn't even work, in space settings people literally live under different skies.
