I mean, they literally deleted fred and velma from one of their series, so how important are any of the characters besides Scooby and Shaggy to the show's dynamic?

Could any of them be cut out without actually losing anything, or be replaced by one of the other characters in their roles?

Their importance is fairly minimal, to be honest. They cover the more serious aspects of mystery investigations, but that shit can be done with guest roles too.

That said, they do keep the main two's antics from getting TOO stale, just by occupying air time.

It's a weirdly solid group that lets the show get flexible in its plot. They neatly cover all bases and generally are too iconic to split up.

You really miss velma and Freddie in that series too, btw. And it makes you wonder why the fuck Daphne is hanging out with just smelly hippie Shaggy and Scoob. The fuck are they gonna talk about riding to desolate, haunted locations in the van? They'd be killing each others vibe.
