The fact that he couldn’t do more as Joker tells me that it was an issue with the larger production. The final cut of Suicide Squad clearly gutted his part and hastily recontexualized his character’s motives, which made for a jarring disconnect between his choices on set and how he appeared on screen. He was actually pretty fun for the 2 minutes he had in SnyderCut, and I genuinely believe him and Ayer when they say he wasn’t fairly represented. The only reason people don’t give him any slack is because he acted like a jackass on set and aided in the stigma that the character is edge lord wank. More than BvS, I think Suicide Squad was most thrown under the bus by WB and I’d be ten times as curious to see an AyerCut than I ever was for SnyderCut.
