>>130223659This. The turnover in the Rick and Morty writers' room really fucked with the feeling of camaraderie that was clearly present back when it was Dan, Justin, Ryan Ridley, and some of their other buddies just shooting the shit and coming up with ridiculous yet weirdly poignant stories and characters. Now you have a bunch of randos trying to fill in for all the OG writers who left to go run bigger projects of their own, but it doesn't seem like the present-day writers' room is as tight-knit as before. This is most obvious in the literal proof that Justin barely even sits in on writers' meetings anymore, so it seems to just be Dan Harmon running the show and collaborating with newbies to try and retain some semblance of a coherent vision.
Rick and Morty is still creative and does interesting stuff, but it just carries a very different attitude and overall sense of humor/comedic timing. I'm also starting to hate the Smiths, which is a far cry from how endearing I found them to be back then. Why is Summer so shit now?
