>>130222039Subscriber growth was the only hope they had, they're drowning in debt, to which they must pay interest.
This was over a couple of months ago when Netflix had to promise the shareholders to not borrow more money.
Netflix borrowed $20 billion with the promise of building a library of content that would be so good that it would ensure subscriber growth up until the time were they would be rid of debt and fully self-sustaining.
In reality they got very little content of worth out of those $20 billion, and had to pay huge costs just to keep old stuff from third parties on their platform, like The Office and Friends.
The in-house animation project was an attempt at catching the anime growth, except the SJW creatives they hired couldn't deliver anything that would drive subscribers or even decent views to keep subscribers.
Now Netflix is in financial panic mode, everything they produce needs to add to their bottom line, they can't afford any vanity virtue signalling projects anymore, and that probably won't be enough. What's even worse, they have a ton of woke shit already deep in production or post-production, which they know won't drive a single subscription their way, quite the opposite.
What an absolute dumpster-fire of a company.
