What changes is not the world around him but his way of thinking, Usagi is one of the few protagonist who if he ever time traveled to the past would become an antagonist to himself for how much his ideals changed.
Older Usagi would try to stop younger Usagi of doing certain things he did and younger Usagi would genuinely hate his older self for his opinion in certain matters.
