I'm glad that never happened.
King of the Hill after season 2 became a much tonally different show than compared to Beavis & Butthead.
Something like that would've destroyed the show's themes and messages.

Wouldn't have been anywhere near as interesting a dynamic as there was with Cotton. Anderson was kind of a dithering man in decline who, apart from having been cleared to serve in Korea or WW2 (I don't remember which) is more or less the same guy as Hank. Cotton's aggression and comparative worldliness was an interesting foil to Hank's moderation. They'd have had to come up with a conpletely different concept for Hank and that would've drastically changed the entire tone

Not much in practice. In theory, his passive nature would mean that Hank never grew up with a cruel hard-head for a father, making him more open to being closer with the people around him.
Ultimately I think it was for the best that they didn't make him Hank's dad, as we got a much more sympathetic and intriguing reason for why Hank acts the way he does.

I think that it could have worked to have Hank's dad be more like Mr. Andersson, though not that exact character.
I never quite felt it made sense that a man like Hank would be the son of a man like Cotton.
It'd be a lot more realistic to have Hank's dad be like a more aggressive, bitter, nitpicky version of Hank, so maybe a mix of Cotton and Anderson.
