On the other hand, I always feel like time skips robs viewers of chunks of the lives of the characters they care about, and being left at the very end with designs differing too much from the ones used throughout the whole series always feels weird, almost as if they were different people.
A small timeskip would be the best of both worlds for me, I guess - a year or two tops, not enough to jump into a wholly different phase of life for the characters. Not 15 years like Pepper Ann did, at least.
