No seriously that's what happened. He had Beast go from being pissed at Scott over being tortured to just being angry and hypocritical about everything as his moral compass eroded after decimation. Then every subsequent X-Writer (Gillen, Bendis, Hickman, Percy, etc.). stuck to and furthered on what Fraction started.

They're the most broken minority allegory in all of fiction. Thanks to the compressed timeline, all of the mutants being crazy murderers technically happened in about a decade, maybe three at most.
Imagine the Troubles, but instead of bombs and guns it's kinetic blasts, thunder strikes, firestorms , psychos in spandex and fucking reality warpers killing dozens people each week on the dot, and that's only the collateral damage. For 30 years. And then once per year those same assholes go on a mega murder spree where thousands of people are killed and hundreds of homes destroyed.

It's because they never updated the premise to change with the characters, their actions, and their world. Used to be the X-Men were the good guys who wanted peace between mutants and flatscans.

Now they're ethno nationalists who believe they're the ubermensch under assault for being superior.
It's kind of fucking difficult to portray ethno nationalists as benevolent and morally righteous, but some naive writers think it's okay because they never moved past the initial premise from the 80s.
