>>130167710Her New 52 run is unironically pretty good and some very enjoyable moments, specifically red lantern Supergirl.
Superman/Batman: Supergirl is also a fun look at the redone origin of her character.
The 05-11 run is also good, has its ups and downs like any long running line but is overall solid.
The character is a their best as a superman stand in who has a wildly different perspective on earth culture and has a harder time getting used to things here. Going from a world where you're technologically thousands of years more advanced, and having friends/family there that you actually remember and loved be taken away from you. And then having to escape to a backwater world where there's so many more problems is a cool take on the superman origin. Itd be like if we had to flee earth to a planet that exists in the 1500s. It shows that maybe if Clark didn't arrive as a baby he might not be as hopeful and optimistic as he is. While Supergirl eventually does embody that same optimism and pursues a brighter future like supes, I think her and Conners sort of edgier takes of the mantle were their main appeal as characters. Not every series hits on that but when they do it's pretty good.
