>>130168165He didnt backtrack on SHIT. He never recanted saying he didnt want to do a more comic book like movie you liar. He always stated his first inspiration was the comics as he worked.
What he said was YES they wanted him to make a more toyetic movie and to bring the tone more family friendly for B&R which he agreed to. You want me to get the quotes for you, you fucking mong?
"With Batman & Robin there was a real desire to make it more family friendly and toyetic."
"I'm not criticizing anyone, I signed on to do this, I was doing this job -- but that was a big part of it."
"The merchandising and licensing became a very, very important part of the making of the film. But I also have to say: I'm an adult, I was awake, I went along with it. So Im not pointing the finger at anyone else and saying, "THEY made me do this." alright? I was there."
He goes onto explain how merchandising makes you send in things quickly. Its clear he thought he could do what the studio wanted and appease fans of the previous movie. And also that he felt because of the success of the first he felt primarily the fans and the studio wanted him to do another so he did it quickly.
"It's for the audience. Part of the reason we made this was because after Batman Forever it seemed everyone wanted another Batman. It's for the audience, not for me. And if they let me know they want another one - we'll make another one."
He also goes onto say he didnt see the harm in doing a lighter Batman. Never once did he say he didnt want to do a more comic book movie. Even before Batman and Robin during Forever Val Kilmer is saying his Batman is more comic like, from the situations to the costume. Schumacher himself is on record saying in Forever he wanted to do things not seen before because it's s comic book movie. And these are movies where its ALL about the costumes and sets. Him being a former costume designer of course that would appeal to him.
