>>130156634What I hate most about this plot - which I think is based in truth since the new trailer came out - and about the trailers themselves, is how small they've made the scale of the story. The blurb Buzz gives in Toy Story mentions a "Galactic Alliance" and Zurg as an "Evil Emperor", which suggests conflict on the scale of Star Wars and Star Trek, with Buzz Lightyear the Space Ranger as the Alliance's ace hero. And from what I saw that's pretty much the story the cartoons set up. I know the Star Wars pastiche elements of that are obvious, but in turning him to a test pilot, Zurg to a future Buzz trying to go back in time, and Star Command as just the space force of this earth refugee remnant, they've minimized the scope of the story to where it sounds kind of small and bleak rather than grand and exciting for kids. And that Zurg bit sounds really dumb.
