However because they're basically elastic skintight half shirts, a small one can give a girl the satisfaction of wearing a bra like a grown up while also allowing for growth room that a normal cup bra won't give as well, especially when you're 12 and flat as a board. So it gets called a "training bra" in that sense as well, regardless if there's barely any actual training of any kind involved
