Some of the takes on the villains were refreshing like Venom infecting everyone, not just Peter and Eddie and Venom being weak to electricity not just vibration, however it was just refreshing, not something well written. I can think of a million people bitching that Venom wasn't defeated the 1000th time with vibrations and calling creators idiots who don't understand the source material.
It was like the guys behind Legend of Korra wrote this. Or any DC and Marvel movie after 2010. The graphics were great, but the writing ruined everything. Shounen anime in a nutshell.
