Jay Lender (a former writer and storyboard director for SpongeBob SquarePants) believes Modern SpongeBob should lessen the "le wacky faces" associated with the later seasons and focus more on dialog heavy jokes and only use wacky faces during an impactful moment.

I haven't actually bothered with the modern Spongebob, but I remember the original having a lot of physical humour plus a bunch of animation-saving gags (more title cards than Bakemonogatari). Does it really rely too much on animation over writing now? Wasn't that the pre-outsourcing tradition in the first place with stuff like Felix?

But it doesn't matter. Once a show gets shit seasons that turns characters into unlikable shitheads, EVEN if new seasons are "good again", the show was killed already. You are dressing up a corpse.

You cannot "fix" a show that was ruined. Maybe if the bad seasons were merely mediocre. With Spongebob, you go way below mediocre.

Post-Movie to me actually had good episodes, sometimes the stupid episodes like Pineapple Fever, as a Squidward fan, I still enjoyed. Post-Sequel screams Ren and Stimpy (I fucking hate Ren and Stimpy since a child), and the flanderization became worse for Patrick and Squidward. Patrick's just even more annoyingly dumb and Squidward screams all the time, has exagerrated expressions all the time, kind of acts bizarely goofy and dumb, and acts like a psychopath just so they can "punish" him, which wikia users will say "haha im glad they made squidward out of character so he got karma he deserved for once". It's all so painful and tiring to watch. I just want Squidward kino dammit.

After having watched some Anime something rigid does keep a better illusion if you are starving for talent and on a budget, so I'll take rigid animation as the lesser poison

No amount of good animation can salvage bad writing or bad jokes so that is still important despite being a visual medium, these things should work together man I don't know how things got this bad

Mismanagement and poor understanding of one's employees functions leads to this crap, I bet they probably have the animators or story boarders performaning multiple jobs at once, it's the only explanation I have for a production line to fail this miserably

My point was more that professional stuff has department divides: writing>artists>animators>etc. Drawfags usually have a lot of artistic luxury in that they get to do most of the work themselves.
