After the success of Joker I don’t understand why they wouldn’t make a Lex Luthor solo movie

The Amarillo comic is pretty perfect for it. (Unlike his joker comic which was edgelord shit)

Sparing views of superman, lex playing house of cards tier deals. Monologuing about how superman is the end of our potential etc

It would be pretty low budget considering it’s mainly a bald guy in a suit talking and walking around. Sparing VFX news shots of superman and one superman appearance at the end

Can you really make Lex "fall" in the same way that Phoenix Joker does? I don't think that people would have liked Joker as much if it wasn't ultimately a tragedy about what was a decent enough guy snapping and going out of control. The only similar thing I could see is playing up Lex's obsession with Supes and how that ends up ruining him, but that would make Superman an integral element of the story, unlike Joker and Batman

That whole thing where he has a crowd worshipping him each morning and he picks one guy to uplift

then when superman shows up almost nobodies there

He breaks and finances some anti superman shit

If you HAVE to get gritty maybe his secretary tells him she can’t hide what he’s doing she’s resigning and going to the police so he kills her

Lex is interesting in a different way to Joker because he’s not crazy or downtrodden. Or chaotic.

He’s the supremacist ideal personified. He even thinks what he’s doing is best for HUMANITY. so anything he does is justified

I think you could make a movie about Lex as the son of an overbearing and abusive father that grows up with an obsession about proving himself worthy. And for awhile he accomplishes that, through genius, dedication and hard work. And then Superman comes along and "steals" his limelight. And from their you see a man grow petty and jealous over someone he's never met.

You could use Superman before the Lois interview and there's really just this guy in a red cape flying around catching falling airplanes and holding up collapsing bridges in news reports. Lex Doesn't ever really meet him but becomes obsessed with someone that in a short time has accomplished more and gotten more praise than him a guy who has worked his entire life to build his company and reputation. Then you could watch Lex descend into a Howard Hughes-esque paranoia about Superman. He's researching genetic mutation and alien life, lining his walls with lead, getting angrier and angrier at his staff, he steals 40 cakes. And the movie is just like the villain lead up to the first time he hatches a plan against Superman.

Why not start out with Lex as a downtrodden scientist/inventor who is inspired to become greater due to Superman. He creates LexCorp, becomes rich, but slowly starts to resent Superman, knowing that whatever he does won’t matter since the Man of Tomorrow can do it easier and better. Essentially have it be about Lex trying to kill the ideal that spurred his inner greatness.
