There just isn't enough information in the original frame for anything other than a human to make a faithful upscale. For example, all of those algorithms make Eddy's front teeth pink, because there's some redish colour fringing in the original frame, and computers are stupid automations that don't know teeth are supposed to be white. Algorithms like this put tiny mistakes like that in every frame. People who have taste and pay attention to detail will notice.
