Bloodsucker was the best thing about The River Trilogy, but it does meander in the middle chapter. I still liked the bookending segments, though.
Bigger issue was that the Mirage staff (who are all turbo New England liberals) were in a circle-jerk at the time over American Indian folk lore, culture, and "oh they're so proud and wise and isn't it terrible what the evil white men did to them? Whip me whip me somebody WHIP ME!" So there was a deluge of American Indian themed stories in the Mirage TMNT comics at the time. Sons of the Silent Age, The River Trilogy, and that Complete Carnage & Radical story that tied their powers into Indian magic all came out back to back to back to back for like a year and a half. Monotonous shit.
