Unpopular opinion, but I liked the ending, flawed as it was. Could have been better executed to be sure, but it checked off more positives than negatives for me personally, though I completely understand the disappointment surrounding it, and I'm also in the boat of wishing certain things could have been tweaked a bit.
The game, as it's been stated, unfortunately gives off some shovel-ware vibes. It looks like more work has gone into it than a run-of-the-mill shovel-ware game, but not enough to make it truly stand out. That being said, if it's very reasonably priced I may end up getting it anyway.
said, I also wouldn't want a live-action version. One of the strengths of the series is that it takes advantage of the medium it's in to do things with its storytelling that other mediums can't. Conveying the tone through the set pieces, environments, and action sequences in the same way wouldn't be possible in live action, or even in 3d animation imo.
On that note, if there was a really kickass game, I think it'd have to emulate that 2d aesthetic. Memorable sequences that only 2d animation can really pull off, like the light vs dark shinobi fight, or that kickass part when Jack is fighting the three remaining daughters of Aku and they line up in a single file, appearing as a single being with six arms before unleashing a whirlwind barrage of attacks on him to communicate their teamwork would be cool to play, but would look really off in any other style.
