Love Live's main influence was, alongside Aikatsu that came out the same year, that it created a idol renaissance. The late 00s were pretty infamous for most major networks having deemed it to not be worthwhile anymore outside of The Daughter of 20 Faces. Sunrise was converting to a 2 studio set up, Toei was coasting on One Piece and Pretty Cure, Eiken was still latching to Sazae-San's ratings, and the few Satellite networks that survived that long were all propped up by anime aimed at otaku. The huge online presence of those two series created a resurgence of animation targeted at the online crowd, which ended up causing the slow transition to things like Netflix original animation.
It should be noted that Kemono Friends, Madoka Magica & Zombie Land Saga had a hand in it too, although far more indirectly.
