Slott was decent before Dying Wish. But he obviously took inspiration from Brevoort's "make people angry to sell comics" approach.>When he was hinting at the story, he said that the ending would piss off a lot of people. So when ASM 700 ended with Peter dying and Otto having control of his body, Slott got death threats and deactivated his twitter for a while.>Wacker, the Spider-Man editor, said that Peter was permanently dead and people should get used to Otto as Spider-Man.>Slott said he was going to piss off people even more with the issue that had Peter lose to Otto in his mind. Otto guilts Peter, suggesting he was willing to sacrifice a girl's life to protect himself from Otto finding him.>He said he was going to piss off people again when he had Otto clock Felicia. Didn't really piss off people that much but it did do damage to Felicia's character.>Slott's posts on CBR forums where he got into petty arguments with people.>And that happened on Twitter as well. He was actively starting fights and blocking people, he did nothing but make people hate him more.>Slott's writing on SSM had Otto outsmarting everyone and winning all the time. Slott didn't write Otto nearly as flawed as other writers did. There's a reason why it's joked that everyone was on stupid pills during that time.>MJ hated Peter and was dating some guy that couldn't decide if he was Black, Mexican, both, or neither.
And that was just Superior. When Peter got his body back in the most convoluted way possible, he did Spiderverse and killed off a bunch of Spider-Men, including Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, and threatened to kill the dog at a panel if people wouldn't stop complaining. And there's also Parkertech, his relationship with Mockinbird, destroying his company and leaving him worst off then before. And he killed Flash in the very end of his run.
