Allright so let me tell you about the guy.
When I was 12 I met this guy at an acquaintance's party. We were both the autistic loners who didn't really get along with anybody so we hit it off pretty decently at first.
For a while he was pretty much the only friend I had and as I spoke to his parents and some of the other kids that lived in the condo I could tell that he didn't really have many friends either. So for a while things were pretty good. He was pretty aggressive and pushy but not to a point where things were unpleasant, it was mostly how he treated other kids.
Eventually I discovered that he was a fan of Kick Buttowski. Now, I had heard about the show and even watched a couple of episodes, and never really paid it much attention. But this kid was completely fucking obsessed with the show. Everytime I went to his house he had it on tv. He laughed out loud at every stupid joke and constantly quoted the show whenever he could, and of course I watched it with him.
And every now and then there'd be occasions were he'd drag me into doing something "cool" that I, being the autist who grew up indoors that I was, wouldn't have done otherwise. Like throw water balloons at the neighbor kids from the window or break into the soccer court to steal the ball that belonged to the other kid. And he'd constantly challenge the other kids to games and I recall two occasions where he got into fistfights over dumb shit and had to be separated.
Now, I knew firsthand what it was like to have autistic obsessions with things, and at the time I didn't have anyone else to talk to nor did I think I was really doing anything bad yet.
But it was around this time that I gradually began to understand why he didn't have many friends.
It's like he wanted to be the real life Kick Buttowski, the "cool" kid that does radical stunts and pranks and nobody gets, and he wanted me to be his Gunther or something.
And he only seemed to get worse as time went on.
