It drives me mad. I've seen series with genuinely interesting and well-written minority characters, gay characters, disabled characters, etc. But people will still find reason to go out of their way to complain that they're not perfect enough. As if they're angry that those characters are being portrayed as flawed, distinctive, multi-faceted individuals, and not a boring beacon of pure hope that can do no wrong.
These people don't want characters that feel human. They just want certain types of people to be treated like a quota of diversity to be filled, and if you fail to ever do so as they see fit then you must be a terrible person.
