Sure power girl or super girl can get away with skimpy outfits. But heroes like huntress who have mortal bodies and have to deal with the unexpected do not make any sense.
Now you can argue COMICS or "muh SJW" but the everyday reader plays a role in this as well because every fucking part of how powers, heroes, and their very world work has to be explained. Where as before the reader was more than willing to accept any crazy explanation given for a situation and use their imagination to fill in the rest.
tl:dr readers wished on the realism monkey paw and this is what you get.
