That's what bugs me more on those EVIL FEMINISM rants. Disney has been doing that since the 90's. Get it with the program! Every single Post-Disney princess movie is about getting free, doing things your way and challenging the status quo, in fact it´s so repetitive that at this point even Disney is making fun of how obvious the plot will be.
Yes, at the very start, Disney princesses used to be just damsels that helped by singing and doing cute things. But that ONLY because, if you look at the big picture, every single other character is also a walking trope. So much that it will be rare to see any revelant name or backstory in any of those stories. The hunter in Snow white is just...the hunter! Little by little Disney started giving those stories more personality, starting with Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, culminating with the princesses getting the center of the story in The Little Mermaid, and the the prince getting name and motivations with Aladdin. Nothing new since then.
