It's probably far more difficult to write in a way that properly communicates concepts to kids who have barely developed speech and language than older kids, who have more memories to call upon to parse information, better degrees of abstract thinking and understand written and spoken word much better.
Furthermore, let's also recognize that shows for older kids generally don't have good writing in the first place.
