Eh I'm actually okay with this. While the show did recover some from the massive drop in quality from season 2, it never got as good as season 1. Doubling the length of seasons made it a slog. The politics and characters got a lot more milquetoast. Jefferson deciding it would be best for the students if the racist (whoops, my bad. The show says he can't possibly be racist because he used to be poor) guy who didn't give a shit about them stayed principal. Them trying to do a MLK/Malcolm X thing with Jefferson and the detective over the use of bombs (not even to kill people, just serve as a diversion) was dumb. Hell, even the entire season 3 premise of a whole-ass city being secretly locked off and put under martial law while a foreign military sets up right outside of it and wages war was really dumb.
By the end of the 4th season they'll have had 61 hour-long episodes. That's good enough. I already dropped Flash because it went on too long, and I haven't started the season of Legends that's on Netflix but there's a decent chance I'll drop that too.
