Why bring the magical leaf people in at all? It's a silly departure from the more "low fantasy" vibe the rest of the series and the movie gave off. Same thing with the fish people coast guard and to a lesser extent Seraphina. Tbh this was even before the island thing- the forest of no return was silly too and honestly the only saving grace of freebird was that Raps and Cass were cute in bird form.
I admit I might be a bit blinded in my venting but so far it seems like the entire second season has just been filler, except for keeper of the spire
