Not saying it's a solid case, it's just theorizing. >>112462712
This too. It's like how Grunkle Stan wears an eyepatch when doing his schtick to the tourists to play up the mystery angle. "The Most Powerful Witch and the King of Demons selling rare relics" is a bigger draw to crowds than "old spinster and her pet cubone selling junk.">>112461849
Also, I think Amphibia had a stronger beginning. >The way Anne got trapped in Amphibia (the music box) has some significance to it, while Luz basically just stumbled in the world following Eda's cane. >Luz's issues (omg the normies just don't get me!) are pretty much spelled out to the viewer in the first five minutes of the episode 1 while Anne's issues in her home world are only hinted at and revealed slowly over the season, with more to be revealed in season 2.>In Amphibia we're introduced to the frog world and characters first, so the audience can get a feel for the status quo and thus Anne is the one who feels more alien and aberrant to the setting despite being a human. The Owl House introduces us to Luz first, which can work as well, but it's more "by-the-numbers" as some people have mentioned.
While it could turn out Owl House will be a stronger show in the long run, OW definitely had a weak beginning.
