The exact problem was that it wasn't fantasy Futurama.
It wasn't very episodic.
Bean isn't Fry, Luci isn't Bender and Elfo isn't Leela.
That is 100% what the dynamic should be though.
Instead all 3 of them take turns with each role.
Bean should be a lot less capable.
Luci should be a lot more chaotic.
Elfo should be a lot more stern.
I imagine what happened was the result of the obvious.>Lets write Bean as a hopeless idiot because we are writing a comedy cartoon and that is the only god damn characterization you should ever give your main character>Oh shit, you can't write a cartoon about a woman who is borderline retarded because it comes away looking like nothing but bitter bitter sexism>I know, we will have her drink so that we can logically create scenarios where in she does something dumb>Not too much drinking though, not literally all of the time, that would be sexist
I look at the writers.
I see that there is only a 5/12 overlap with Futurama.
I recognize most of Futurama was made before social media engineered the creativity cancer known as PC culture.
Lastly a growing bigoted part of me thinks:>Did he get a writers room of nu-males and shit who stepped on every joke they didn't like?
or is it just self-censorship / lack of ideas for jokes?
