If you choose physics you can move onto biology later on. The same doesn't really apply the other way around.
Personally I went for biology for the same reason that you brought up.

I find it hard to believe that humans will discover a real, working way of stop aging before they can actually cure and understand diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer, ALS, cancer etc.
