It's actually pretty awful. When I was at school "accidents" happened to the best students. One girl was mugged but they didn't steal her money, just her notes. One was attacked, not mugged, just had the shit beat out of him. In my last year one girl disappeared entirely, nobody ever found her and her friends never heard from her again. Some schools are cutthroat as fuck.

Furthermore a psychiatrist tried to prescribe antipsychotics. Didn't take it and turns out that there are alternatives.

There's much rigid thought in the medical establishment, similar applications to the scientific establishment.

what happened was that educational titles, like doctor, have degenerated into something akin to the nobility titles of feudal societies. you're in a world full of narcissists just posturing to one another.

how exactly did this happen? like every hell, it started with good intentions, and resulted in some unintended consequences. for example, look at MMIs. they're supposed to screen for skills and traits that can't be assessed via conventional testing methods. and these MMI's are great at assessing these traits that can't be tested - except they end up screening for the wrong traits. look at this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOVbDD9lNjE

Yes, a lot of them do. Every nurse and med student i know always wants to help people. The ones that do it due to pressure from their parents (asians), can be absolute ass holes though due to a sense of superiority. Though, this does not apply to all. Mostly to those who are from Asia, and not born state side.

Some of the people do actually turn sour though from being in the field. Its stressful, you work shitty hours, and people are on drugs 24/7 whether it be nurses, docs, or patients.

Med school is a narcissist farm. About three quarters of the MDs I deal with at work are shameless egotists incapable of even conceiving of their own culpability, let alone acknowledging it. I have seen doctors endlessly defend obviously stupid mistakes like a shelter-raised pit bull defending its favorite bone. These are things that brand new medics and nurses know instinctively to avoid. Basically, ER doctors exist to underwrite the shit we do.

And we call them that for a reason. I have no idea why south Asians make such absolutely shit doctors, but they fucking do. Every time I have to make an interfacility transfer (ICU to ICU, ER to ICU, etc.) and the doctor taking care if the patient was a dot or paki, I have to unfuck half of what they were doing. Shit like a 750cc tidal volume on a 65 year old granny with 30 mg/kg of propofol for sedation. This is basic bitch shit. If I had a paramedic student do this in front of me, I would correct him or her. And most ER or ICU nurses will. But let's face it: the default female mental state is a cluster B personality disorder and they will absolutely endanger a patient's life to prove how incompetent a doctor is while avoiding any open confrontation.

South Asians make the worst doctors, though. Chinese docs are soulless ant people and Nigerians generally just work with their noses in a copy of Emergency Medicine For Dummies, but most South Asian docs I know are egotistical AND stupid, which is a seriously lethal combination.

Talk to any pre-med for longer than a single conversation. They knee-jerk say "helping people" is the reason they want to be doctor's but after a full semester they'll admit helping people is the last thing on their minds. They want status, money, and power with helping people as a convenient cover up. If doctors got paid say 70,000/year on average but didn't have to pay for medschool there'd be 90% less pre-meds, med students, and doctors and a fuck tonne more engineers.
