CS Researchers?

I have a year left to complete my CS meme undergrad degree and I have also found myself skilled and interested in mathematics. My school has an above average program that definitely is not void of theoretical coursework, but it leaves me wanting more. CS gets a bad wrap from pajeetcodemonk xD, but I think graduate level research seems pretty cozy and I'd love to hear from any people who are pursuing this career.

I'm finding myself drawn to subjects like ML, algorithm analysis/complexity, and possibly computational mathematics (comp geometry/topology).

So if you're in CS grad school or a working post-doc, what kinda subjects are you invested in? Any book recs?
