here comes a problem that, as it stands, has greatest influence on our future. Civilization will not settle space. Because communication speed is limited to light speed and distance ensures, that any settlement beyond our solar system over long reaches a stage where it can build a weapon to destroy earth and launch it with next to no chance of interception. This risk is based on communication delay due to light speed only, a very solid constant.
