Gödel was a plebian Platonist and also he questioned himself whether his work formal logic work of that decade was just unrevealing childish wordplay phenomena.
Although it's unfair to say it was easy a task as some ancient philosophers reasoned about, as only after Frege was there a hard formal framework to do those things in.
Besides, his texts directly lead to Turings work, eventually giving us the universal computer.
