Hey /sci/ I'm looking for a material that becomes conducive/more conducive when wet. Essentially I need something that’ll complete a circuit when coming in contact with water

Dried salt on a piece of cloth string. It gets conductive when wet.

But this would only be one time use ideally I’d like something that would dry out and break the circuit....I’m dealing with low voltage by the way and water itself won’t complete the circuit

Can't you just use two copper wires? When water gets between them it closes the circuit, when it dries it breaks it.

This is what we used to use in my commercial HVAC days to detect leaks in the CRAC units at data centers. It'll short circuit if it gets wet and trigger an output.
