A question about sperm and genes.

Will there be a difference between a child conceived with a sperm frozen 20 years ago and that same person using his sperm today?

To rephrase that, if i freeze my sperm today, wait twenty years, will the genetic material be the same or can i "awaken" a genetic disease that will affect my kids ( that would otherwise is silenced in the frozen sperm ).

As far as I'm aware, they use non-toxic cryoprotectants which inhibit the growth of ice crystals. As such, these don't form and damage the tissue of the cell.
The reason this hasn't been overly successful for full body vitrification yet, is because of the thoroughness needed for protecting the majority of the cells of the body, and the time. In other words, the longer you leave them "unfrozen" they more damage their cells and therefore DNA take from biodegradation.
This is why they often tell you to only preserve your brain, because it can be vitrified more thoroughly by current techniques.

As a general rule, the earlier the better. However, "save rule" applies. The amount of suffering you go through, brain or body, will be stored as potential genetic expression. Nature and nurture are one.

So in terms of freezing there's very little difference. Aside from cost. There'd be a negligible amount of damage from radiation/radioactive decay over the 20 years. Like really negligible.

There are differences in epigenetic expression between test tube babies and non test tube. The main one is IGF-2 expression (I think), IVF babies express it more and grow a little taller and are a little more prone to obesity. That kind of change disappears in the next generation as in if your kid had children without using something like IVF.
