They're rapidly depopulating for one or two reasons
-Climate change is very real and they're scrambling to slaughter the cattle before they lose it all
-Our population and individual ecological affordance has grown to where maintaining the existing power structure and keeping the hidden hand away from sight is becoming infeasible. There's too much available and people are beginning to put the pieces together and disseminate it. Things are falling apart and we greatly outnumber them. Culling our midst and dragging in the whole network would occur in short order during the chaos ensuing from people realizing what's really going on, and the system being truly delegitimized. They know what can happen and our transitioning us to a more manageable state.
-They no longer need us and we're being cleaned up.

Right now the US needs to be turned to pull Russia and China into mutual destruction. This is what we're seeing unfold.

extremely high, time table is what is pertinent here. if we have 300 years then we can possibly discover new energy source and extremely efficient carbon sequestration. if we have less time before it becomes unfeasible to organize massive scientific research ventures like that then its very unlikely we will save ourselves. No one knows, it will be horrific and we won’t be prepared for what is coming either way. Even if best case scenario, we get 300+ years and govs around the world cooperate to cut population, cut CO2 dramatically and throw trillions at alternative energy and carbon sequestration we will still see a degradation of development and quality of life that hasn’t been seen since the bronze age collapse or fall of Rome.

Out of the 7.7 billion people on this Earth, half of them are just dead weight, not participating in any meaningful way in the world economy, industry or fields of science. Hell most of Africa is unemployed and unemployable. My home country of South Africa is a very young country, yet only 42% of the adult population is employed. And this is one of the wealthiest countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The rest of SSA is going to add at least another 3 Billion people to the world population by 2100 and there is little reason to believe these people will be any better than the current generation as African parents seem to care very little about investing in their childrens' lives, preferring a quantity over quality approach to securing familial income and care in their old age.

Here are my thoughts:

1) We have to begin migrating to northern and southern latitudes. Currently inhospitably cold climates will be the temperate zones of the future.

2) We have to genetically modify our crops to keep up with rising temperatures and more arid conditions.

3) There's no need for us to go to Mars: A 6c world is a very different world. Perfect indoor, hydroponic farming and artificial climate control on an industrial scale. That way, if we survive the great filter, and if we eventually make it to colonizing the solar system, we will be well versed in self-sustaining colonies and geoengineering from having faced the crisis here on our own world and successfully managed it.

4) We need to go underground. All of the creatures that successfully navigated the end-permian were either burrowers or cold blooded animals who actually benefited from the rise in temperatures.

Geology student at a major state university that has many specialists in climate sciences here, for what it's worth (im no expert but I have sat through a lot of their in depth presentations on the scientific basis for it).

basically the quick rundown is that is is already unavoidable and that any rational person would realize that it is a lost cause trying to prevent it. This is where most of em go wrong (with carbon tax shit and the like). Climate change is already happening and we cant stop it. So here's what will happen:
>destabilized weather patterns
>more extreme highs and lows
>larger storms due to higher ocean temperatures
>large scale flooding in coastal regions
>significant loss of biodiversity due to many niche animals not being able to adapt and going extinct
>seasons not behaving the way they did in the past
>not being able to make accurate weather predictions due to there being too much change to base estimates off of historical likelihoods

The planet wont become unlivable or anything, but there will be a huge economic toll when most major coastal cities get absolutely fucked by flooding/storms. The loss of biodiversity will be bad too. Climate change will make earth a lot harder to live on than in previous centuries, but it won't be made unlivable like the MSM wants you to believe. The worst of it will be famines due to droughts caused by the climate change. Precipitation will dry up in some places and get wayyy more extreme in others. so california might get very little rain, while new york gets absolutely drown every year.

Humans are just gonna have to adapt to it and deal with the transitional pains. it wont be the end of the world for us but its gonna get suckier in the future.

whether predictions are made via dynamical systems of partial differential equations. not based on statistics or historical likelihoods.
The weather is deterministic, and the solutions to these differential equations exist and are unique.
The problem is how accurate you can measure because initial conditions are quite important in chaotic models.

What other conclusions did you pull out of a big hat?

Hard to tell. Data is inconclusive. But based on the history of science the doomsday scenarios are probably wrong.

When we take majority scientific opinion at any point in history when it tries to make a meaningful prediction about the future, it has been wrong. I don't believe we have somehow become better at predicting the future. Climate science basically is taking some empirical data points, interpreting them in whatever way seems comfortable, builds computer models on these interpretations and says what the future looks like. Imagine the hubris and false confidence in yourself to say that you can build something that accurately models one of the most complex systems known to man for decades or hundreds of years into the future. It is preposterous.

A lot of brilliant physicists and mathematicians have been hired by various finance companies to try to build models to try to predict the future on the stock market. And these models are based on very accurate historical data. Some of the models have worked. But no one has had the balls to say that they can build a model to tell the stock price or interest rates decades into the future. Yet somehow with climate scientists we are supposed to believe that they can?

So this is not a question about science but a question of belief, a question of faith. And like other faiths it comes down to what you believe in. And apostles and missionaries are always annoying.

Nah the data is pretty clear. Maybe not enough to prophesy your doomsday or even the weather your county can expect in 10 years at the moment, but still enough to know which longitudes and latitudes will be fucked in general. Quality of life taking a decline is a safe bet at this point.
Dooming could be (or could have been) an arguably decent way of getting people to care no matter how exaggerated, but even at its highest success the impact it has is probably negligible.
